The Vulcan is known for its speed, maneuverability, and bow and stern squirts. It has become popular with West coast boaters who surf the large Pacific swells. Knee and foot hills are located in the bow. Hard chines (around the center of gravity) facilitate squirt initiation, precise eddy turns, and easy weight shift for surfing. The chines quickly soften fore and aft of the cockpit to minimize spin and pivot resistance. Even though the bow contains well it tends not to dive during upstream paddling and ferries. The Vulcan performs very well on technical water.
