KOR Principles by Jim Snyder
The KOR represents a new direction is squirt design. It is designed to exploit the avenue of control that comes with spinning underwater during a mystery move. The boat is longer, wider, and lower than "traditional" squirt designs. It has a lot of "tool area" - which are the dense ends of the boat. These help you shoehorn your way into new slices of water.
One of the biggest changes in this design is the new Jimirim groove- it's about half the size of the original ones and so the deck can ride lower on your legs and the boat is easier to get into.
Another big difference are the concaves in the hull. These help take volume out of the boat and help keep it neutral when you are sounding the depths at your favorite sink spot. The concaves are likely to be a handicap for cruising or surfing however. So this is a destination- park and sink boat. The concaves also induce the boat's bow to plow underwater while paddling on flatwater- so it's not a good flatwater racing boat.
A well chopped KOR is pretty much entirely underwater in flatwater. That takes a little getting used to also. But the bottom line is performance- and the KOR delivers. The ride is calm, stable, and forgiving underwater. It's very neutral and slinky and LOVES to spin. It's for mystery dawgs looking to take their game to the ultimate level. It's an enabler. The KOR is the best mystery move kayak in the world!
