Each boat we create has its own unique look. You get to tell us what colors you want, or don’t want, on your kayak.
Metal flakes are the vibrant, ‘glittery’ colors that make our boats sparkle. You can have a little bit of metal flakes or a lot of metal flakes. Since we’re working with flakes, we need to mix them into a liquid to apply as the first layer into the mold. (Composite boats are built from the outside in.) We mix them into gel coat.
Gel coat too can be colored with pigments. So you can do all kinds of neat things by mixing and matching pigmented colors with metal flake colors, or all metal flake, or all pigment; what’s your fancy?
